Policy Forum

Where the meetings world and
public policy makers connect

Focusing on redefining the impact of business events on destination eco-systems—our Policy Forum brings national and city policy makers, association leaders, destination innovators and industry thought-leaders together to discuss and influence the future direction of business events related to policy making and strategic destination management.

The IMEX Policy Forum is organised in collaboration with the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC), City Destinations Alliance (City DNA), Destinations International, German Convention Bureau (GCB), the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and Meetings Mean Business Coalition, under the auspices of Events Industry Council (EIC) and the Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC).

2024 Content Overview

“Good meetings” not “more meetings” - why and how the business events industry should evolve from transactional to transformative thinking.

Policy makers, event owners and organisers, suppliers, destination representatives and industry association leaders will gather at the 2024 IMEX Policy Forum to discuss some of the most existential issues facing our industry, our self-image, and our rationale for continuing relevance.

Unbridled growth that ignores negative externalities is no longer an acceptable position in the broader economy, over-tourism is a serious challenge worldwide, and tomorrow’s business advocacy agenda will be focused on sustainability, circularity, renewal, resilience, and reinvention.

Do you want your destination to be a great place to live, work and invest in?
